J. Michael Reed, the principal of The Reed Law Firm is a highly experienced trial lawyer having specialized in construction defects, construction delay claims, insurance, commercial and business litigation. Mr. Reed has represented both plaintiffs and defendants over the course of his career. Because of his broad background and experience in both trial work and construction Mr. Reed has played a key role in the legal counseling of owners, design professionals, developers and contractors. Mr. Reed received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in June 1962 from San Diego State University with Minors in Economics, History and Political Science and his Juris Doctor Degree in June 1965 from the University of California School of Law, Berkeley, Boalt Hall. As a Member of the Bar Association of the State of California, Mr. Reed is admitted to practice law before all courts in the State of California as well as the United States Circuit Court, the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Federal Claims. In addition to his law practice, Mr. Reed is licensed as a General Building Contractor in the State of California and carried out the responsibilities of the CEO of his family’s construction company from June 1978 until June 1984. The construction company focused on residential and small commercial building. Raised in San Diego, California, Mr. Reed has been active in many professional organizations within California and the local community. While actively practicing law he has served on numerous committees of the State Bar. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Bar Association and served a term as Vice-President of that organization. In addition to being a member of Consumer Attorneys of California, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and other professional groups, Mr. Reed has served his community on the Board of Directors of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, as a Big Brother and served on the Board of Directors of the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of San Diego and as a Vice President of the latter organization. Mr. Reed counts among his prior clients, The Regents of the University of California, The Trustees of California State University and numerous homeowner associations. Having served as an expert witness and as a guest speaker on subjects ranging from law office management to trial litigation techniques, his superb communication skills, personal presence, and background in general civil, insurance and construction litigation make Mr. Reed an informed and knowledgeable mediator. |
